Lava and Snow

Chiavenna is a city in the Province of Sondrio in the Italian region of Lombardy. It is located about 100 kilometres (62 mi) north of Milan and about 40 kilometres (25 mi) northwest of Sondrio. The surrounding alpine region is known as Valchiavenna, located to the north of Lake Como.
